Correa Guimerá’s website is something of a personalized page — it looks and feels a lot like a WordPress blog, which isn’t necessarily a negative, as it is mostly easy to navigate and to find information on it. Generally, the tone of the content strikes a good balance between personable and professional.  He appears to update the blog section quite regularly, especially with posts about issues with Anfi, a European timeshare company and resort group that seems, based on what we could find, to scam people quite regularly.

It’s on the blog where you’ll also find information about past and recent cases, which generally aim for a result of nullifying timeshare contracts. He does provide a great deal of detail here, and while some of the legal jargon might be trickier for a layperson to delve into, it’s generally easy to read and understand. This is a pretty reassuring detail as it gives more context to the work Correa Guimerá does in the absence of online reviews — something we’ll explore later on in this review.

In general it’s a bilingual site, meaning that there are both English and Spanish versions of several of the posts and pages. Since what is in English appears to be in translation, that content can be a bit difficult to read, but this isn’t an issue as much as it is something to pay attention to while reading.

Links to Correa Guimerá’s social media pages are included, and a quick look into these shows that he is also quite active there, especially on Twitter. His Facebook page does not have any reviews and appears a bit less active than his Twitter account.

Correa Guimerá’s bio provides an extensive recount of his general background and legal expertise. He has experience as a partner at other law firms as well as a solo practitioner, which is a solid plus. Overall, it is refreshing to have the specific history of a timeshare professional so clearly stated on their website.

 It was difficult to find reviews of Correa Guimerá’s work as a lawyer in the typical places, including Google, Facebook, and Yelp. This we found a bit curious, considering how long he has been a practicing lawyer. However, in part this could potentially be chalked up to a difference in cultural standards of reviewing businesses, as we did not find reviews of other Spanish timeshare exit companies on these platforms either.

We did find a number of in-industry testimonials, which are helpful to a degree, as they indicate that Correa Guimerá is known and esteemed for his work as a timeshare exit lawyer.

Specifically, we found that UK-based The Timeshare Association, a hub for European timeshare and timeshare exit company reviews that serves a similar purpose to this website, cited as much. Their words were that he is “respected by many professional lawyers.”

Likewise, the website Timeshare Business Check serves as an aggregate of timeshare-related businesses’ online presence and track records. It’s helpful in that it points out concerns and red flags. There are none listed for Javier Correa Guimerá on his page, which can be found through a simple Google search for “timeshare business check Javier Correa.”

Correa Guimerá is also noted as a reputable source on the European timeshare forum TimeshareTalk. On another forum, MoneySavingExpert, a user recommended him to someone struggling with a timeshare in Spain, saying “You would really need to consult a Spanish lawyer who specializes in Timeshare, a person who could help you is Javier…Javier is a long time contributor to TimeshareTalk and has helped people in the past.” This seems to indicate a level of engagement with the timeshare exit community in Europe that is consistent and authentic. This user’s post history seems to indicate that he is not actually Correa Guimerá himself, so that’s another plus.

In another post on TimeshareTalk, a forum administrator shared a news piece that not only offered further information on Correa Guimerá and his perspective, but also on how complicated timeshare issues can be in Spain and Europe in general. This is also fairly easy to find with a quick Google search for “Javier Correa Guimerá timeshare talk.” But to briefly summarize, most of the timeshares in Spain are in the Canary Islands, where their owners more often than not are known for swindling tourists. The Spanish Supreme Court hit several of these resorts with charges of fraud in the 2010s.

Correa Guimerá’s comments were mostly related to how this was possible in the first place:

  • The crux of the matter is that this business was launched before there was any legislation on the matter,” The legal void of the timeshare was fading with the years: in January 1999 a European directive of 1994 ( Law 42/98 ) was transposed , “which tried to bring order to madness, completely deregulated”, says Correa Guimerá. That law was fundamentally about addressing two problems that occurred with time sharing : “the question of the term and the indeterminacy of the object,” the lawyer points out.

Basically, the laws around timeshare ownership in Europe were always vague enough to easily be taken advantage of before they became overly deregulated in recent years. Lifetime contracts are not uncommon, but lately there has been more action taken to define these kinds of contracts as illegal and give buyers refunds.

Correa Guimerá has also been a contributor to the blog Inside Timeshare, another website focused on the European timeshare industry and particularly on unearthing fraudulent and questionable activity. A post from Sept. 2017 (“Start the Week”) cites that he emailed the blog owner a tip about a fake law firm that was running a scam; that post notes as well that he regularly posts timeshare tips on forums.

  • “Over the weekend Inside Timeshare received an email from Javier Correa Guimerá, a Spanish lawyer who…posts on various forums answering many question on timeshare matters.

His email referred to the articles published last week on the new fake law firm Amador Galeca Abogados, part of the Litigious Abogados family. He was commenting on the very strange names these so-called law firms use for their lawyers, he states they are not even Spanish, just by seeing the names he is sure it is a scam.

Another point he made was about the directors pleading guilty, asking where in this world would a timeshare company accept responsibility, willingly and pay up?

In this we must agree with him, we have never heard of any timeshare company accepting any responsibility or pleading guilty, quite the contrary, they always seem to deny any wrongdoing. All we can say is Inside Timeshare has made extensive enquiries about all these firms, searched for the lawyers, checked the cases with the courts and not one has proved positive.

Finally, we did find other footnotes about Correa Guimerá on the websites for TESS Law and Legal Claim Funder Ltd., two UK-based businesses that specialize in timeshare exit. From this we can further conclude that he is essentially an active member of the European timeshare exit community, and collaborates with other legal experts on a regular basis.

Cost is not cited on Correa Guimerá’s website, aside from the mention of free consultations being available. As noted above, the website also claims a “no win, no fee” policy, which can be promising, in that it isn’t a money-back guarantee, thus seems to imply that he does not require upfront payments. This is positive, as getting involved with companies and attorneys who demand as much is not something we recommend. Instead, you should always be sure you’re working with a company that uses escrow for payment. You can learn more about why escrow is important on this page.

Summary

Exploring Correa Guimerá’s online presence and background in timeshare law has brought us to the conclusion that, while his firm is worth looking into if you are in Spain and need assistance, it’s also a good idea to tread carefully before deciding to move forward. Since he has so few reviews, it’s hard to say outright that his work speaks for itself. But the support we found for his work on those forums cited above, and the fact that he does have a strong online presence (albeit in a different way than usual) was positive enough to not dismiss him as a timeshare lawyer. Overall, if you are looking for a lawyer like Javier Correa Guimerá, take advantage of the free consultation, find out as much as you can about his past cases, and be sure to never pay ahead of time for any services.

Montgomery and Newcomb Review

Montgomery & Newcomb, LLC is a law firm that may be able to help you get out of a timeshare. They are located in Springfield, MO, and have been operating since 2018.

We found that Montgomery and Newcomb gives a fairly professional impression with their website, thetimeshareattorney.com. (Please note that this is the address of their newer, updated website — there is an older website, montgomerynewcomb.com, that is slightly easier to find but not their current hub.) 

This website is easy to navigate, the design is clean and simple, and the content has substantial information about their staff as well as their practice areas. Montgomery and Newcomb’s website speaks to their having experience in not only timeshare exit, but also real estate law, pharmaceutical cases, and personal injury law. 

When it comes to the timeshare exit portions of their website, the impression is a little more of a mixed bag. The Process page (accessed under “About Us” in the navigation) does not necessarily go in-depth as to how Montgomery and Newcomb cancels a timeshare, but it does note how they evaluate a case and what they pursue from a resort or timeshare company after that initial case review. There are also some notes on what to do about maintenance fees that could prove helpful to a timeshare owner. 

Beyond this, there is a page called Why Our Firm? which addresses their lengthy experience in the legal field as well as the typical claims made in timeshare sales presentations. Their supposed “75 years of experience” is almost certainly combined, considering the fact that the firm itself was founded so recently; the list of “Top 22 Lies Frequently Told During Timeshare Sales Presentations” is probably familiar territory to most timeshare owners. It is not necessarily anything special that they can speak to these typical claims. If anything, it simply demonstrates that they are knowledgeable of what parts of the timeshare industry get an emotional rise out of people, and may remind you of what you’ve gone through in order to encourage you to do business with them. 

There’s also a page called Timeshare Cost that includes a “Timeshare Maintenance Fee Calculator.” Again, depending on how you view this it could either be helpful or somewhat manipulative. Odds are good that, if you’re looking for a timeshare exit company, you’re aware of how high your maintenance fees can be, so this is probably not new information to you, and in fact is quite fresh in your mind. Knowing how much you could expect to pay to get out of your timeshare — information that we could not find on Montgomery and Newcomb’s website — would probably be far more helpful.

Montgomery and Newcomb Reviews

 

Unfortunately, having a decent-looking and professional website does not always imply that a business is trustworthy. This appears to be the situation with Montgomery and Newcomb. When we looked into their online reviews, we found that they are significantly mixed. Their Google reviews, to start with, include both very positive, grateful comments, as well as negative, frustrated comments. It’s hard to draw a conclusion from this conflicting feedback.

Their BBB page, on the other hand, says they have an A rating, but that they are unaccredited. It also hosts some serious complaints that put Montgomery and Newcomb at 3.5 out of 5 stars. A few of these negative reviews are as follows:

  • “My wife and I are really tired of being scammed by attorneys. This complaint/problem is with promises made by a Springfield, Mo firm by the name of Montgomery & Newcomb. They had accepted money to help us get out of a fraudulent timeshare situation. They signed us up for their services with lots of promises on January 1, 2019. After their letter saying their process may take as much as 12 months, they have sent only one letter to the resort firm that had taken advantage of us. Naturally, that produced nothing.” (From Jan. 2020)
  • “After two years Montgomery/Newcomb provided no evidence that they took any action to terminate my timeshare agreement. As far as I could determine they took my money and did nothing.” (From Apr. 2021)
  • After 3 years of no action on our terminating our timeshare I have asked that we be removed from the Lawsuit so that we can utilize the program the timeshare is offering to get rid of it. Huge waste of money. (From May 2021)

We cannot overlook these kinds of comments, as they are not only huge red flags, but also indicative of fairly common practices in the timeshare exit industry. Many people end up paying attorneys or timeshare exit companies ahead of time, and end up never hearing from those companies again. They’re then still stuck with their timeshare and all of its associated fees. This is a situation you definitely want to avoid, as it doubles down on the experiences you’ve already had with your timeshare in the first place, so it’s important that you carefully evaluate the legitimacy of a timeshare exit law firm or company’s promises and claims.

Montgomery and Newcomb Cost

 

As we cited regarding the website, there is not much information in the way of costs you can anticipate from Montgomery and Newcomb. Their website does not speak to a money-back guarantee, which at first glance should be a positive, as it seems to imply that they do not require upfront payments. However, like the reviews above say, people’s experiences have said otherwise. While they definitely offer free consultations — something to take advantage of when it comes to most timeshare exit companies and law firms — that certainly isn’t a foundation for a recommendation, nor does it indicate that working with them will be reasonable or affordable. 

As we’ve outlined elsewhere on this site, working with a reputable attorney to exit your timeshare can be quite effective, but may also run you a higher cost. This is especially true if you owe a mortgage on the property. It can also turn out to be a more collaborative process, and require more time and effort on your part. So given Montgomery and Newcomb’s complaints, we would recommend treading carefully in this area.

What to Look for in a Timeshare Exit Company

 

Given the nature of what we could find about Montgomery and Newcomb, it’s important that we note what you should look for in a timeshare exit company or law firm. Businesses like theirs are not uncommon in the timeshare exit industry — meaning, it’s easy to find companies that appear to be highly professional but don’t have a great track record. 

So what should you look for in terms of green flags? What is indicative of a trustworthy timeshare exit company? To begin with, whatever company you choose should have a solid reputation, and they should also use escrow for payment. This means that the company does not get paid until your timeshare has been completely canceled. You can learn more about why escrow is important on this page. 

A few other qualities you should look for in a timeshare exit company include the following:

  • An A (or higher) rating with the BBB, accreditation, and few (if any) complaints
  • Several years in business
  • A physical office address rather than a PO box
  • A professional-looking website

Velas Vallarta, también llamado Club Velas Vallarta, es un programa de tiempo compartido que forma parte de Velas Resorts. Se encuentra en Puerto Vallarta, México, y forma parte de RCI, la mayor empresa de tiempo compartido del mundo. 

Si usted es una de las muchas personas que intentan deshacerse del tiempo compartido de Velas Vallarta, puede tener una o varias razones para querer hacerlo. La venta de nuestro tiempo compartido existente era una condición de compra en Velas Vallarta. El vendedor nos engañó sobre la garantía de vender nuestro tiempo compartido existente por 60.850 dólares. No recibimos la garantía hasta que nos fuimos después de firmar el contrato. La garantía no era más que poner la propiedad a la venta por 60.850 dólares. Hablamos de las semanas de bonificación de RCI que íbamos a recibir. Hablamos del costo de $169 o $189 por semana. No se dijo nada de tener que pagar primero las cuotas de mantenimiento.”

De TripAdvisor:

“Nos dijeron que debido a que estábamos comprando una unidad que había sido previamente ejecutada teníamos que renunciar a los derechos de cancelación de 5 días. Ellos no pueden hacer esto. Pero el ENORME fraude nos llegó de parte del gerente de intercambios, el Sr. Ken Waller, quien arregló que un bróker comprara un tiempo compartido que teníamos en Minnesota… Nos dio un fax del bróker confirmando el trato que había negociado para nosotros. Cuando volvimos a casa y hablamos con el bróker que estaba comprando nuestro tiempo compartido en Minnesota nos enteramos de que NO enviaron este fax de confirmación al Sr. Ken Waller. … Todas nuestras cartas dirigidas a ellos han quedado sin respuesta y todavía los estamos presionando para que nos devuelvan nuestro pago inicial… VelasVallarta es un complejo turístico encantador, pero uno tiene que preguntarse sobre una organización que permite que sus vendedores los representen de manera tan fraudulenta y que recurre a tácticas ilegales para completar una venta.”

También hay algunas publicaciones en blogs independientes que profundizan en el tema. Uno en particular, alojado en blogspot.com, es el de VelasResortScam y analiza estas tendencias deshonestas y el mencionado retroceso (ilegal) en el derecho de rescisión de cinco días.

Como puede comprobar, la mayoría de estos problemas tienen más que ver con la naturaleza del programa de tiempo compartido y con las personas que lo dirigen que con el propio centro turístico. Desafortunadamente, estos problemas y quejas son un claro indicio de una estafa de tiempo compartido. Así que si usted está tratando de cancelar el tiempo compartido de Velas Vallarta, probablemente será difícil hacerlo, pero tiene opciones.

Como era de esperar, no encontramos nada en cuanto a un programa oficial de salida de tiempo compartido a través de Velas Resorts o RCI. Desafortunadamente, esta compañía de salida de tiempo compartido parece que ha aprovechado la oportunidad para ser tan fraudulenta como Velas Vallarta. Resort Consulting Group Review

Resort Consulting Group is a timeshare exit service located in Van Buren, Missouri. They’ve claimed to have been in business since 2007 but their Better Business Bureau profile states they’ve been around since 2016. They are a veteran-owned firm that allegedly specializes in fixing any of your vacation accommodation troubles, including ending pesky timeshare contracts. Though they claim to tailor-make their solutions for every client, do they hold up to those claims, or do they fall short of the mark?

When we think of timeshare exit groups and what they are trying to market to potential clients, we expect professionality, solid credentials, and a website that showcases what they can do for you and how they can do it. Resort Consulting Group’s website doesn’t even fall short, it barely shows up at all. For a business that claims to have been practicing as long as they have, their web design is poor and the structure of the information is severely lacking. 

The overall appearance of their site looks more like a low-budget modeling agency or a salon’s website. There is a single black and white stock photo of a model set as the background and the colors of red, orange, and yellow against the black and white backdrop only cheapens the website further. The use of stock photography and the configuration of the information they provide on the website are sloppy and poorly organized. 

Reaching their ‘services’ page is even worse as the menu of what services they provide is organized like a basic numbered list and some of the services provided are a little bit ridiculous. They are one of the few sites we’ve seen that mentions pricing at all, it is just unfortunate how disorganized the subject matter is. They offer three free services and a few that are priced, but even the prices and services themselves seem off. 

The three services they provide are a ‘Timeshare Advocate Evaluation’ where they will contact any timeshare company that has contacted you to determine their legitimacy. They offer ‘Timeshare Mortgage Relief’, and you can get a free quote for their services and what they think they can do to get you out of those payments. They also of course offer ‘Timeshare Cancellation’, and you can also call for a free quote to discuss your contract and your options. 

The last free service they offer is something called ‘Accommodation Alternatives’, which doesn’t make much sense. It seems to be a way to help you get other accommodations should your timeshare service be insufficient. This doesn’t make much sense to us with the wording, so we don’t think this is a legitimate service, regardless of how it is offered. 

They then break down four other services that they provide which are all marked with prices or price ranges for you to look over. While this is a nice addition, it also doesn’t make a lot of sense. They offer a ‘Simple Contract Review’ for $39.99, which is essentially looking over your timeshare documents and contract so you know what you’ve signed on for. 

It seems silly to us that they would charge almost forty bucks to look over your documents and talk them over with you. While you may get a higher price from an attorney who would be looking over your documents, most free consultations cover looking over your contract. They also charge anywhere from $160 to $300 to give you a ‘Presentation Ride Along’, so you don’t have to attend your timeshare update meetings alone. 

We think it is ridiculous to pay up to three hundred dollars to have one of their associates come with you to your next meeting. You also have to shell out another $40 for timeshare cancellation assistance which doesn’t seem right. They don’t further explain what most of these services mean and how exactly they’ll help you in the long run. All of these services aside from one or two are typical timeshare exit services, but the way they’ve been priced or described doesn’t make sense to the reader. If you’re a potential client, we don’t see you reading into these any easier than we have and that’s the most important part. If your client can’t make sense of what you’re offering, you’re not doing your job. They do make it clear they are not attorneys and can’t offer legal advice, so you should take everything they are saying with a grain of salt. 

The only further information they offer is their contact information and a sheet for you to fill out to get in touch with them. If we’re gauging their legitimacy by the website alone, this looks like either a poorly structured business or an absolute scam. It lacks any sort of professionalism in its design and the list of their services and costs makes little sense to anyone trying to read through. 

There is little information available to the potential client to get a feel for who Resort Consulting Group is and what they offer to clients. We know what the red flags for scams look like and this has a few of them right away, but we would still like to take into account the reviews before we make our final verdict.

If you head on over to their Better Business Bureau profile, you’ll find three reviews for their services. They have no complaints and only three reviews available. Though they have a 5 out of 5 stars for their services, they don’t even have a rating from the Better Business Bureau as they are not considered an accredited business 

The first name of the owner isn’t even spelled correctly on their profile, making it difficult to find much about him. When we searched him we found a Gerald W. Stracke who lives in Springfield, Missouri who we believe might be the individual tied to this business. Though further than where he lives and his age we weren’t able to find much else about him. 

The three reviews you can find on their Better Business Bureau profile are all 5 stars. They are all from just last month and they have the same structure and similar words. All of them are short and sweet, mentioning how helpful the associates were and how much they recommend the company. 

These reviews being legitimate does not seem likely as the similarities, when they were posted, and the choices of names seem too convenient to consider. You won’t find any other reviews floating around the internet either, which really leads us towards believing that this company is either the most poorly managed timeshare exit service in the world, or it is a scam. The only thing they seem to be somewhat upfront about is their costs. The four services they offer outright costs for tend to be roughly $40 each, but for one it varies between about $160 and $300. We don’t believe for a second that these are the only costs you’ll incur using their services and hidden fees or extra costs seem to be lurking around the corner. 

This is why we strongly advise against using any service that doesn’t offer information about their payment plans and the full costs of their services. Clients deserve to know what they are getting into before they get into it and unfortunately not many timeshare exit companies are transparent enough to do this before the no-cost consultation. The consultation itself is problematic as well as it gives them the power to contact you even if you don’t wish to use their services. 

We also strongly advise against companies that don’t offer escrow payment options. Using escrow payment means that you have the ability to get your service done before your money is even released to the party involved. This is important as it keeps timeshare exit companies honest and ensures that you know exactly what you’re getting into before you get into it.

Titan Exit Group is a timeshare termination service located in Costa Mesa, California. They have been in business since 2019 and claim to be the solution to your timeshare headaches. One of their biggest missions is to give unhappy timeshare owners some relief from the hefty timeshare fees and fighting with their resort. While they seem genuine with these hefty promises, do they actually hold up to their own mission statement?

The initial impression of the website is underwhelming at best. It has the same gestalt of the typical mediocre timeshare exit company with the poorly rendered stock photography and the business statement that drops at the moment you begin navigating the landing page. The initial statement is a little bit kitschy as well claiming that they take care of everything legally, ethically, and forever. To get to their contact page you have to click on a small tab that says ‘how do I get out’, which isn’t really a professional way to get people to your contact information. 

The website’s general appearance isn’t the worst we’ve seen, but it definitely doesn’t give off a professional appearance. While we normally wouldn’t be nit-picky about the font either, it isn’t something that we’d attribute to a website that offers legal help. The font and stock photo choices don’t suit the professional and legal nature of the business and it cheapens the overall effect. 

They also claim they were mentioned on Fox News, Fox Business, and CNN, though we aren’t given anything definitive about how they were mentioned or why. Their landing page has a video included to provide more information about why you would contact them and if you’re tired of your timeshare you should get a hold of them. The rest of the landing page is a small section dedicated to what they do and how they do it, but it is mostly fluff and doesn’t provide much to really describe their business process. 

They claim to investigate your case, advocate for the cancellation of your contract, and then they resolve the issue for you. If you are looking for further information, they show a few of their blogs on the landing page to give you a sneak peek at their actual blog section offers. The only other information you’ll find on their landing page is their contact information, contact sheet to get in touch for the free consultation, and their headquarters address. 

If you do decide to navigate over to their ‘how do I get out’ section, you won’t get much out of it. They only really mention why someone would get a timeshare and why you might want to get rid of it. They describe timeshares as money pits that don’t have any resale value and that it can be incredibly overwhelming to hold onto one of them. They claim that they are the best chance to get free from your timeshare without the hassle and pain that some timeshare exit services or attorneys might put you through. 

If you’re hoping to learn more about Titan Exit Group in their ‘about us’ section, you aren’t going to find anything helpful. Even on their Better Business Bureau page, you’ll only find their contact information and there’s very little to back up their credibility. We don’t typically recommend timeshare exit services that don’t have much information about their credentials on their website or their Better Business Bureau profile. 

Overall the website itself is underwhelming and we don’t like how little information they provide. Most of the information available is filler text and doesn’t make them look very credible. We could chalk this up to a lack of experience, but even then it seems like the website itself is on the weaker end of the timeshare exit companies we typically review.

If you’re looking for testimonials that will help you make a decision about whether you should use the service or not, you’re going to be a little hard-pressed to find them. Titan Exit Group has no active reviews on their Better Business Bureau profile, and other than the reviews on their website from satisfied customers there isn’t much else to go on. 

They do technically have an A rating from the BBB and are accredited by them, but there is nothing to back this up for potential clients to look at. If you want to see what they do well, you can peruse their vague testimonials from happy customers on their website, but we find those reviews tend to be lacking in substance and credibility. Any timeshare exit service can post up reviews on their website and claim they are legitimate even if they aren’t. 

While we don’t think this leads to them being a scam, we do caution potential clients to be wary when they decide to contact the group for help exiting their timeshare. With the lack of information about who owns the company and who runs it, you don’t know who is going to be answering the phone when you contact them. These groups tend to get your information and then hold onto it even if you decide not to use them. 

Navigating the exit from a timeshare is difficult enough without having to field spam calls and emails from a company you don’t even want to use. Without any information on a LinkedIn or their BBB profile as well, you could be putting yourself into a situation that could end in utmost disaster. With no point of reference and no credentials available for a business, it can be incredibly risky to contact a company that essentially has no presence. 

You won’t know what you’re getting into and you could end up losing money or putting yourself in a complicated position while also navigating the issues with your timeshare resort. If there is no research to be done, it is best to proceed with caution until you can gather any further information.

We’re seeing a recurring theme with this company and we’re not finding any information on how much their services cost or what their payment plans look like. Even though they’ve only been around almost two years we don’t think that following the same formula as other timeshare exit companies is the best way to proceed. With only a free consultation available and no information about their services or costs before you take it, you’re left to either wonder or contact them. 

They also don’t offer any escrow payment options outright, which is something we tend to recommend. Escrow payments not only protects you from losing money, but it ensures that your case is handled completely before any payment is sent through to the company. They have to complete their end of the contract before they get anything from you. 

This is an important element that can make potential clients feel more comfortable with the company before they hire them. It may hurt the business to have their information fully upfront, but it can also keep them from getting potential clients as most people don’t want to go blindly into a consultation with a company they know nothing about. Resort Cancellation Services is a timeshare exit service located in Orlando, Florida. They have been in business since 2017 and claim that they offer a 100% money-back guarantee if they can’t cancel your timeshare. They also state that they can cancel your timeshare with any developer and that they will shut down any nasty or annoying phone calls, service fees, and credit problems for good. But with all these hefty promises in place, can they really stand up and deliver on them?

The landing page for Resort Cancellation Services looks well organized if not a little bit cheesy. Though they went into business in 2017, the design is a little outdated and could use a modern touch-up. Immediately they mention they are a legal timeshare cancellation service and offer up a contact sheet so you can sign up for a free consultation right away. 

They also claim that even though they’ve only been in business about four years, they have twenty years of experience within their team alone. There doesn’t seem to be a way to back that up though, which is something we find a little frustrating about some timeshare exit companies. They claim to have more experience than the years they have been in business but don’t provide much to back up those claims. 

Most of the information provided on this landing page is your typical, run-of-the-mill statements about being timeshare exit experts who’s biggest goal is to give their clients some peace-of-mind when it comes to their timeshare troubles. Most services make these generic claims without outrightly saying how they will do so. They also say they have a six year proven timeshare exit strategy, but everything we’ve found states they have only been in business since 2017. 

They do offer some perks that not all timeshare exit companies have, like a dedicated team to help rebuild or protect your credit during the process. They also promise to check in with you monthly to show where they are in the cancellation process, which is something a lot of timeshare exit companies lack. Most say they will stay in communication with you during the process but then they become difficult to get a hold of when you need to speak with them. 

They allegedly have a 100% success rate and nothing on their Better Business Bureau page seems to challenge this. They offer some credibility to back up this statement as well, providing a page with case result documents that you can view from real clients. Out of over 2,100 clients they’ve helped, they’ve managed to cancel more than 1,930 of their contracts. Since they claim to have a 100% success rating, this leads us to believe that the other 160+ clients contacted them for other matters. 

You can also apparently call them to ask questions if you have any further inquiries but we aren’t told if this counts as your free consultation or not. They do say they guarantee results and that they take an individual approach to every timeshare cancellation so your whole process is entirely personalized. We aren’t sure how true this is because a lot of companies make this claim but they don’t take a personal approach to your cancellation. 

They claim that until you take your free consultation you won’t find anything about your options, strategy, and your payment options. This is unfortunate for clients who are looking to know how much the service will cost before they even contact the service. A consultation beforehand means your contact information is handed off to the service before you’re sure you want to use them. 

This opens you up to the potential of scam calls and spam emails that only make your timeshare exit process that much of a hassle. They do offer attorney services though, which can put potential clients more at ease with the service provided. Their alleged legal team apparently works diligently with every contract they are given and they have a 98% success rate. 

They also offer a timeshare cost calculator, so you can be aware of how much your timeshare is costing you and how much it will continue to cost you. They have a small blog as well as an FAQ section that offers vague answers to questions like how much RCS’s fee is and if their credit will be affected during the process. They don’t give a definitive answer as to how much their services cost. 

There is nothing particularly different or special about their website, it seems like the general run-of-the-mill timeshare exit company website.

From the single review on the RCS Better Business Bureau page and the 21 Google reviews, we are led to believe the company is as trustworthy as they claim. There are no negative reviews and only one dips below 5 stars, landing at 4 stars instead. Every review claims that the service is entirely legitimate and acted professionally while handling their cases. 

They claim the company is incredibly responsive and knows how to get the job done. While of course we can’t confirm or deny these claims, it does seem there is overwhelming evidence that at least a majority of clients have had a positive experience. The only thing that mildly concerns us is the lack of accreditation by the Better Business Bureau. 

They have only been in business for about three years so it may be that they haven’t had enough time to gather negative reviews yet. Though the positive reviews do look promising for a small company that has just essentially gotten their start. We still recommend that you proceed with caution considering you can never fully trust a company right off the bat. 

If there’s only positive reviews to go off that isn’t a negative thing, but you should try and do your research and take in as much as you can about the business before you make any decisions. Though the positivity about RCS is a good thing you don’t want to end up being the inevitable negative review because you went in blind. When you take your initial consultation with them you shouldn’t be afraid to ask the tough questions either. 

You should take notes and get an intimate idea of how long they think it’ll take to cancel your contract, how much it will cost, and if they think they can get you out of it. Don’t be afraid to stay on the phone with them awhile so you can get all of your questions answered rather than dodged. It may seem like you’re pestering them for answers, but it’s better to know upfront what you’re working with before you put any money down. 

Also look for signs of possible scams like dodging questions, giving vague answers, taking upfront payment but not giving a timeframe, repeated calls or emails even if you’re still thinking over whether you’ll use their services. Property Relief Consultants is a timeshare exit group located in Whitefish, Montana. This consulting group has been in business since 2016 and claims to be one of America’s most trusted consulting firms. They allegedly can help get you out of your timeshare contract in twelve months or less or they’ll offer a full refund for your trouble. Though they make this hefty promise to potential customers, do they actually hold up to it?

They immediately assert to the potential client that their mission statement is to eliminate timeshare fees permanently, but their website leaves a lot to be desired. It isn’t impressively designed and appears a little outdated even though the group has apparently been in business since 2016. The website looks more like it was designed in the early 2000s at the very latest rather than only 5 years ago. 

Your initial impression is based upon the landing page, which shows a gold seal promising their 100% money-back guarantee. The rest of the landing page offers little further information, showing only that they promise to get your timeshare transferred out of your name in twelve months or they’ll give you your money back. The only other information found on their landing page is their contact information and where they are located, so it’s a pretty poor first impression. 

If you click over to their ‘About Us’ section, you’ll find their vision statement. This essentially lays out that they believe the timeshare industry is deceitful and they wanted to help combat some of that and help consumers be relieved of their timeshare burdens. It then gives you a little background on the owners of Property Relief Consultants, Dan, and Sherry Stapleton. They claim to have over twenty-five years in the timeshare business and that seeing it firsthand is what helped them to realize how dishonest and corrupt the industry could be. 

You’re also given a little bit of background on two other members of the consulting team, Keith Deal who is the Director of Operations of the Western Division, and Lisa Allen who is the Director of Operations for the Eastern Division. Both of them have over ten years of experience in related industries, making them valuable additions to the team. This section does give us a little bit of credibility for the consulting team, which helps when you’re trying to establish if a company is legitimate or not. 

Their ‘Timeshare Cancellation’ page acts more like a frequently asked questions section where they answer things you might be curious about before you do a consultation. They answer basic questions like if you need a lawyer to get out of your timeshare, or if you can cancel your timeshare after the rescission period. The questions and their subsequent answers aren’t incredibly helpful and they don’t give you much more than you’d find from any generic timeshare exit company.

You can also look at their testimonials, but as we know the testimonials offered on the website of the service are not always the most honest. They tend to be the most favorable reviews you’ll find about the company or service, and there are no guarantees they are legitimate. If you’re wanting to find more honest reviews you’ll be better off looking at a Better Business Bureau page. 

There isn’t much else to the disappointing website, to say the least. We’ve learned only a little about Property Relief Consultants and we can’t see how most people would choose to go into the consultation without knowing much about the group. You should be wary about any company you’re expected to give your contact information to before learning much about them. 

All in all, we weren’t impressed by their website, but their reviews might be more promising.

Here’s where you’ll learn a bit more about Property Relief Consultants as a whole. You can usually get a good idea of how a company actually functions from their Better Business Bureau profile. This is typically where you’ll find reviews, complaints, and even confirmations about the legitimacy of the company itself. You’ll find on this BBB profile that they have 3 customer ratings in all, but they have 6 complaints and a B rating which tell you a lot about the company itself.

You’ll also find that this business is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau, which is alarming for a group you’re expecting to help handle your legal business. The three reviews they have available are all 5 stars, but that doesn’t tell us as much as the complaints and their ratings do. All three mention Dan Stapleton specifically and how they were more trustworthy than other companies they’d tried to contact. 

One even mentions another timeshare exit company by name and claims that they are a scam, to help assert that Property Relief Consultants is more credible. Though these reviews seem nice, they aren’t what interests us about their Better Business Bureau page. We’re more interested in those six complaints and why those have knocked their rating down to a B. 

The most concerning thing about these complaints seems to be that the responses back from the company claim that the complaints are invalid only because they were able to get the timeshare canceled in the allotted 12 months. Even if the complaint has nothing to do with how much time the cancellation took, they continue to bring up this fact and act as if they upheld their end of the bargain. Most of these complaints have to do with dealing with third parties and being charged extra for services they weren’t told they would need. 

They seem to completely ignore other concerns and allegedly they have a third-party company called Switch It Escrow that handles their final paperwork. While we are glad to see escrow mentioned, we aren’t fond of the fact that most of these customers are being charged more to work with this third-party service as well. You can definitely see why this group has a B rating, and likely why they aren’t accredited.

While we don’t get much information from their website regarding costs or payment unless you contact them initially, we can get a little bit of an idea from their BBB complaints. We can see that some clients were charged anywhere from $720 to $1550 and that extra services from Switch It Escrow cost $100 or more. Even with their 100% money-back guarantee, this seems like a shady business model and we would even go as far as to say it sounds like a scam to bring in a third party and charge the client more money. 

We are not entirely sure how much initial services cost and how much extra charges or monthly fees you’re incurring the longer they work on your contract. We also don’t like how there seems to be a variance in how much customers are charged but aren’t given an idea of what to expect. You should have an idea of how much you’ll be paying before you ever give out your contact information to the company. 

This is typically how scam companies get a hold of you as you’re expected to contact them first to get any information. They then have your phone number and /or email to call or email you whenever they feel like it. This is concerning, especially if you’re not going to use their services as they can still contact you even if you’ve decided against their help.

You’re expected to use what little you can find on their website to make a decision about whether they should help you with your timeshare cancellation or not. This isn’t a good business practice as timeshare cancellation tends to be an extensive legal process and if you can’t trust the company helping you get there, it’s essentially like falling into another scam. You’ve already been through the wringer with your timeshare company, why should you have to deal with shady individuals in your cancellation company as well? 

Make sure to check out their Better Business Bureau page, especially considering how little is available on their website. You’ll get a better idea of how competent and trustworthy their company is from their BBB page, rather than what little you can find on their website. Also, make sure to do more research before you decide to submit your contact information to them. 

Holding onto your burdensome timeshare can be frustrating and even feel downright helpless at times, but it isn’t worth going through another potential scam to try and get out of it. Thoroughly vet the company or service you’re going to use to help with the cancellation before you put any money down. Even if the company doesn’t offer escrow payments, you should have a clear idea of what to expect before any money is exchanged.

National Service Corporation of Virginia is a timeshare exit service located in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This corporation has a long shelf-life, having been around since 1967 but went under new ownership in 1987 and has become one of the premier timeshare exit services. They pride themselves on creating long-standing relationships with clients, but does their alleged devotion to their client-base stand true?

The website has obviously been updated in recent years, providing a more modern design than the time they’ve been in business. We see a very familiar setup to a lot of other timeshare exit websites we’ve seen with the vacation-themed stock photo and the promise that they will help you break free of your timeshare. They claim because they have a keen sense of the industry they can help you get free of the burden of your timeshare contract with ease. 

There are more stock photography photos as you scroll further that are paired with vague explanations about their mission, strategy, and that they put their customers first. This really seems like the same setup of most other timeshare websites just with different stock photos and National Service Corporation of Virginia’s logo in the top left corner. So far their strategy doesn’t set them apart from a dozen other companies who promise the same things. 

One of the defining features of this service is that they are a transfer service rather than a cancellation or reseller. They apparently provide an immediate exit solution so you can be severed from your resort quickly and easily without too much hassle. Though we aren’t entirely sure that they deliver on this promise. 

If you look at the section titled ‘Our Story’, you’re not going to get much in the way of a credible backstory for the company. They don’t provide much information besides stating they have been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2001 and that their founder’s bad experience with timeshare exit companies is what fuels them to be better. Their four-step process that they claim has been tried and tested also feels like it is a repeat of most other timeshare exit companies we see. 

They offer a generic free consultation, reviewing your account for qualification, resolution, and then transfer. They then offer a page that gives you the general averages of how much it costs to keep a timeshare and how they can help you get things in order to be able to transfer it. Their FAQ section doesn’t even seem to offer much in the way of helpful information besides what they can try to do to help you and if they have hidden fees. 

They claim that their cancellation fee is a one time price and that there are no additional fees, but they follow this up by saying every situation is different and may require additional fees. This is a bit of a shady move from the National Service Corporation of Virginia, claiming there is only one fee up front and no additional fees and then stating there may be additional fees depending on your situation. We also get no mention of escrow payments which are vital when it comes to ensuring your cancellation is fully processed before your exit company gets a cent.

Overall the website leaves a lot to be desired and has contradictory information that isn’t very helpful to those who are seeking an easy exit from their timeshare. Having the company you’re trusting to take on a legal and financial responsibility for you using contradictory language is a huge red flag and you should be careful and research more before you decide to proceed.

They have a 5 out of 5 rating from the BBB and an A+, but there is a bit of confusion between the website and their BBB profile about how much they’ve been in business. We know the business has officially been around since 1967 but apparently they haven’t been accredited since 2001. 

We aren’t given much information about how their business has changed in those 50+ years they’ve been operational either. They also only have two reviews available, both five stars, but they have a startling nine complaints they’ve had filed and closed in the last 3 years and one that was closed in the last year. Even though they’ve technically been in business a long time, that is a lot of complaints for a company who claims to be reliable and trustworthy. 

The two positive reviews seem to be pretty generic, claiming that they would recommend this service to all of their friends due to the professionalism and care that their case was handled with. The complaints, though you would hope would be wordier in their content, but you won’t be able to read them. Either they have been closed for long enough that they can’t be seen anymore or they’ve been removed completely, you can’t view the complaints at all. 

We think that while this may be what the business wanted, these complaints should be made available to the public so they know what others had to complain about. If you’re going to put your money towards a service you should know where that service was likely lacking ten whole times with other clients. Any further information on their Better Business Bureau page won’t give you much to go on and you’ll have to infer the rest. 

If you’re wanting to look for any additional reviews, you’ll find three available on Yelp that are all one-star. These reviews claim they are scam artists that will take your information and then never call you back and then they will send your account to collections for unpaid fees. This is a startling thing to have happen, especially if you’ve only consulted with this company rather than establishing an actual account with them. 

With very few actual testimonials and no way to view the complaints, you might want to try and dig a little bit more to see if you can get any further information but you probably won’t find much. This doesn’t directly lead towards a scam, but it definitely is a red flag you shouldn’t ignore.

There is a small place in their FAQ section that mentions a little bit about costs, but it is worded in a tricky way and won’t give you much to go on if you’re looking for a realistic idea of what to expect. They claim that you only have to pay a single cancellation fee and that there will be no other surprise or hidden fees. This is incredibly misleading as just a little further in the section they say that each case is different and there may be additional fees depending on your resort and what you need to file. 

You shouldn’t be given a vague answer as to what to expect as far as costs go. Especially when a company claims there will be no hidden fees but then says there might be additional fees. You should have everything solidified either upfront or in your consultation call so there are no surprises. If you’re worried that your timeshare exit company will only charge fees to your credit card without authorization, make sure you vet them carefully before hiring. 

Giving them all of your information, including your contact information, can be tricky and get you into more trouble than it is worth to get out of your timeshare. There are a lot of scams masquerading as actual companies and you should be careful before you hire one of them to handle your affairs.

Summary

 

While National Service Corporation of Virginia is a longstanding company with 50+ years of experience, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they have the capability to handle business well. They have been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2001 and in that time they haven’t accumulated much in the way of testimonials. They have two positive reviews on their Better Business Bureau profile and then those three startling reviews on Yelp. 

To have actual customers claim that they are a scam is one of the truest ways to prove that they likely are one and you should heed the advice of these customers and refrain from giving them your information. While there are companies who have these claims against them and are innocent, it isn’t worth having a non-existent account sent to collections for fees that you never incurred. The timeshare exit business can be sketchy at times and you really should be careful who you decide to give your information to. 

Don’t let yourself be taken in by a company that claims to be trustworthy when they really aren’t. Longstanding or not, it seems to us that the National Service Corporation of Virginia is one to avoid.

National Cancellation & Transfer Review

National Cancellation & Transfer is a Springfield, Missouri-based timeshare cancellation company that has technically been operational since 2001. Though they’ve allegedly been in business for twenty years helping get individuals out of their timeshare contracts, they have only been accredited since 2015. In those 5 years they claim to have become experts on timeshare exit solutions, but do those claims hold up to what they actually offer?

The initial thought we get from their website is that it looks a bit like one of those cheesy attorney ads that you’d find on the side of a bus or on a billboard. It has the stock photography, the kitschy logo, flashing images, and bright colors you’d expect from a cheap attorney or exit solution. This doesn’t give us an immediate feeling of credibility, but there are things we can look over to see if they at least offer any helpful information. 

Their landing page however, is disappointing in this aspect. They don’t offer much information about how they’ll help you out of your timeshare but instead offer some fluff about evaluating your options and getting the help you need with confidence. The only thing they offer of substance on the landing page is that a phone consultation is free, they have affordable exit options, and you put no money down and can get 100% financing if your credit qualifies you. 

They do have a section of testimonials available on the landing page, but these even seem like they are lacking. One of the pictures seems like an actual family while the other two look a bit like stock photography. They do offer some articles below that section so you can peruse and possibly get answers to questions that you have before you have to go through a full consultation with a representative. 

They then try to offer their free ebook which is supposedly packed with answers about timeshares and how to be free of yours forever. Offering an ebook does feel a bit tacky to try and shove in a potential client’s face as the option they should take to get further information. Your clients shouldn’t have to jump through hoops to get the information they need before they pursue you as their timeshare exit solution. 

Under their ‘About’ section, you’ll find a small section about the company itself, including their Principal Operator Wade Phillips. He claims that he was a timeshare owner once upon a time and that his experience is what led him to help others like him be free of their pesky contracts. They claim their credibility comes from their over five years in business and the experiences they’ve had with their clients in that time. 

They also claim to offer multiple solutions so you can find the most affordable and easiest one for your individual needs. Of these options you’ll find you can exercise your rescission rights if you’re early enough in the timeshare process, can sell your timeshare, consider one of their DIY options so they can guide you through because it is more affordable, or they can help you with a full-service solution and offer you their 100% money-back guarantee as well as financing. 

Their ‘How We Do It’ section leaves much to be desired as it pretty much restates everything you can find on their landing page. There isn’t much substance and they don’t offer any detailed explanation about how they help you through your exit process. Fees are also conveniently left out of any of the information provided, which is frustrating for potential clients. 

You should know what to expect as far as upfront fees or payment options go. They don’t provide escrow options either, which is one of the most secure ways to pay for your services while ensuring your contract is completed. Their FAQ section doesn’t offer much in the manner of substance either. They even dodge the question about how much it will cost to have them relieve you of your timeshare and keep playing up that money-back guarantee line. This is endlessly frustrating for those clients who are seeking assurance after already being scammed out of money by their timeshare. 

The rest of their website is their blog/articles section where you can peruse to find answers to your questions, as well as their full money-back guarantee statement and another link to their ebook. All in all the website is largely unimpressive and though they have some helpful resources there aren’t enough to get us excited about this service as your timeshare solution.

They do offer a testimonials page on their website, but once again this seems to be filled with the same old collection of positive reviews that the business possibly had made for them. The only review that seems to be legitimate has a picture attached to it of a happy family that seems satisfied with National Cancellation & Transfer’s help. If you want to find more reviews that will be more honest, you’ll likely have to head to their Better Business Bureau profile. 

This is where things get interesting as we can find 2 normal reviews and a startling 7 complaints filed against this business on their BBB page. The two reviews are both five-star, claiming that the company did exactly what they said they would do and they have no complaints. This in addition to the testimonials provided on their website you might be inclined to believe they are an all right company, but you’d likely be wrong. 

Five of the seven complaints have been closed, whereas two still remain open and unresolved. The first one claims they handed off the money so they could get in contact with an attorney the service knew, but that they weren’t called back about any details. This one seems like it was resolved easily enough and the company claims that they handed the number off and the client has allegedly been in contact with the attorney ever since. 

The second claims they handed off $3200 for a contract termination but that for 18 months nothing was handled by the company in question. The company claims that they have been taking the right course of action and a refund should not be administered. Most of the rest of the claims seem to be in similar taste, claiming they paid anything from $1600 to $3000+ to this company with no results and a severe lack of communication. 

When companies take on clients and take upfront fees like this and then ghost on communication, it is one of our biggest red flags that they might be a scam. Your timeshare exit company should be communicative and willing to work within the parameters you have set aside but when they take the money and fail to do so, that is a bad sign. We aren’t given any indication on their website how much the services of National Cancellation & Transfer cost, but if you look at the complaints on their BBB profile you can get some clues. Between $1600 and $3200 seems to be the general range to expect for the cost of their services, though it could also be higher depending on those we haven’t gotten testimonials from. You should always know what to expect as far as costs upfront and that’s typically what a lot of companies will save for their initial consultation. 

If you get a price range you’re not comfortable with while on the phone with the company, you should make a note of it and then keep hunting for another. There’s no reason you can’t shop around for a better timeshare exit company, especially when you’ll be dropping well over a grand on getting released from your contract. You shouldn’t have to compromise in that aspect and it won’t be too hard to find a company you can trust more with your money.

Summary

 

If it walks like a scam, talks like a scam, and acts like a scam, likely it’s a scam. The cheesy way that the company presents itself on their website is bad enough, but to have 7 complaints filed against them in their supposed 5 years running isn’t something to be proud of. While we won’t go as far as to say definitively that the company is a scam, it has a lot of the red flags that would typically lead you to that conclusion. 

It is important to thoroughly vet the companies you consider for your timeshare exit journey as they will be holding on to a lot of your money and personal information. If you can, try to find a company that offers escrow and has a website that provides more thorough information and a credible background on those running it.

EZ Advocates Review

EZ Advocates is a consumer protection company based in Portland Maine. They claim that their strong Maine roots have helped them forge an agency built on trust, integrity, and belief in their work. But while they assert to be advocates for you that will deliver quality results, will they be able to hold up to their hefty promises.

Immediately we are met with the image of a stern-looking man and a fill-in sheet for a free consultation. We assume that this image is meant to assert some sort of credibility, meaning they take their job seriously, but we don’t think they accomplish this. It seems more like a cheap ploy to showcase they are hardworking and serious about their work when there isn’t anything presented initially to confirm that. 

The next section we see on the landing page contains information about their expertise and how they’ll help you get you out of your timeshare. They detail that 99% of what they do is document prep and advocacy and that they have canceled 95% of the timeshares contracts they take on. While this does sound like it would be a good percentage we don’t have the information to back that up. 

While the landing page looks professional, if not a little cheesy, it is lacking in substance. It doesn’t include much information about how exactly they get the job done and the potential client is left mostly to guess what to expect unless you go ahead with the consultation. We prefer to recommend companies or advocacy groups that will disclose more about how they’ll help you before you have to set up a consultation. 

If you head over to their ‘About Us’ section, you’ll find a lot of extra fluff as well. They explain that coming from Maine they hold a strong belief in being true to their word, but being from a specific state isn’t an indicator of how credible a company or advocacy group is going to be. They also claim they dedicate twelve hours each day to customer service and ensure that all of your questions are answered.

You would hope that navigating over to the marked ‘Our Service’ section would yield some helpful information, but it does very little in that department. They make another claim to go above and beyond to help you out of your timeshare and lay out a little bit of general information on how they guide clients in the right direction and prepare documentation. The only thing mentioned about costs or returned funds is that they will try to provide you with the necessary resources with which to get your money back. Their FAQ yields very little as well. 

If you even decide to check their ‘Let-us-help’ section you’ll find a link to download their welcome package to take a survey and email it back to them once completed. This page is virtually useless and this information could’ve been provided in another section to cut down on space as well as make the overall website more efficient.

If you’re wanting to delve into testimonials you can find roughly seven of them on their website, but three out of the seven include client phone numbers which seems a little concerning. Other than this you’ll find a contact page that just reiterates the information you can find on their landing page or at the bottom of most of the other sections. 

Overall the layout of their website isn’t bad but it is lacking substance as far as information goes. You’re not going to get much about their team or their services besides the bare minimum unless you decide to contact them. We also don’t see any information regarding cost expectations or payment options. 

We don’t like to recommend companies that don’t offer an escrow option as far as payment goes as it is the safest way to ensure your problem is solved before your money is released to the company. If you want to learn more about the importance of escrow payments, check out our blog.

EZ Advocates Reviews

 

Upon perusing their Better Business Bureau profile, you’ll find that they have a 4.56 rating out of 5. This is technically an A rating but they have two 1-star reviews out of their 18 and 4 complaints filed against them in the four or so years they’ve been in business. This is startling for a still relatively green business and doesn’t bode well for them despite the 16 5-star reviews. 

If you do decide to look up the owner of the business you’ll find the LinkedIn that belongs to Mr. Rahaman Kargar, but this is also rather sparse. It also doesn’t include much relevant work experience besides being self-employed and operating as the CEO of EZ Advocates. We’re already off to a bad start and we haven’t even gotten into those complaints. 

The two 1-star reviews include scathing comments claiming EZ Advocates are frauds who take money but don’t provide results. They also mention a money-back guarantee which is not mentioned anywhere obvious on the website, so we assume this is something you’ll be told about during your consultation. No official costs are mentioned, however, so we still have no idea how much their services cost or how you’re expected to pay for them. 

All four of the complaints filed mention money being taken as well with no communication or aid being given. In one of them, we are told that a client is waiting on their $1800 refund, which means this is one of the only solid indications of costs we’re given. One of these complaints even claims that the company stopped communicating while still taking fees from their credit card. 

Two of these complaints were resolved but the other two still remain unresolved with the company responding they have allegedly done everything they could while the client remained unsatisfied. While they do have a good amount of positive reviews on their website and on the BBB website, these are all relatively generic and similar which doesn’t assure us much of their credibility. At this point with six complaints of fraudulence and lack of communication, we don’t have much faith in their skills to actually help you out of your timeshare contract.

EZ Advocates Cost

 

While there are one or two claims about their money-back guarantee, we can find no indication of this on their actual website. We do know their consultation is free, but to find out if you can get your money back if you’re unsatisfied we do believe you have to contact them first. This opens up another can of worms as initiating contact means you could consent to be contacted even if their services aren’t what you’re looking for. 

We do like companies that offer free consults, but we like them to be more upfront about the services they provide before you hand out your contact information to them. Many timeshare exit companies are scams and by providing your contact you open yourself up to being scam-called on a regular basis. 

The only other information we can find about costs or fees is the mentions in the complaints about the $1800 refund, a superfluous $450 charge, and continuous fees being pulled from a client’s credit card. While these cannot be confirmed as accurate, they don’t make us very comfortable when it comes to giving out your information and even any potential fees to a company like this.

Summary

 

Overall, while the company presents itself professionally through a neatly made website, the lack of information and the somewhat sloppy way they present what they do provide isn’t comforting. You should have a clear idea of what the company you’re using to help you get out of your timeshare does to help release you from that contract. Not to mention for a company that claims to be based on that Maine sense of integrity, they are sorely lacking in communication and upfront information about their business practices. 

We also don’t like when companies don’t offer up any payment options or cost breakdowns unless you contact them. Companies that offer out that information outright or offer an escrow option, tend to be more trustworthy as they provide the client with a clear idea of what they’ll be getting into. You wouldn’t want to buy a car without knowing how much the cost for the repairs will be after all. 

Furthermore, while you can find the owner online his LinkedIn is sorely lacking in anything that sets him apart or makes him appear more credible. Don’t let yourself be drawn in by a professional-looking website if the substance of that website is lacking. Don’t offer up money upfront unless you know what you’ll be getting into. 

So while this isn’t the worst timeshare exit company or consumer advocacy group we’ve seen, it is far from the best. You’ll be better off with a more reputable and upfront company despite EZ Advocates claims that they have that Maine sense of integrity that supposedly sets them apart from others on the market.
